Gmail unique message ID

How can i get the Gmail unique message id from messages as shown in https://developers.google.com/google-apps/gmail/imap_extensions#access_to_the_gmail_unique_message_id_x-gm-msgid

I'm not able to find out where to fetch this part of the message?

An example would help me big time (prefer PHP, but others are helpful as well).
