A protocol is a system of digital message formats and rules for exchanging those messages in or between computing systems. A protocol may have a formal description.

Chilkat can communicate with any mail server that implements the server-side of the SMTP, POP3, and IMAP protocols. Exchange Server implements the server-side of these protocols, and therefore all examples relating to SMTP, POP3, and IMAP found on http://www.example-code.com/ are also valid for Exchange Server.
