is it possible to use Chilkat in conjunction with Xbase++?

You would use the Chilkat ActiveX. XBase++ supports ActiveX -- see ftp://ftp.alaska-software.com/documents/activex.pdf

I would highly recommend using the new single-DLL ActiveX. The deprecated multi-DLL Chilkat ActiveX's are frozen and all fixes, new features, etc. will only be offered in the single-DLL ActiveX.
